English giants Chelsea football club are looking to sign a whole troupe of players from La Liga. Reports say that Jose Mourinho is looking to reimburse and possible redraw his squad with rumours aplenty of big name departures from Stamford Bridge.

Already, David Luiz has been sold to PSG for a whooping 50 million pounds and the veteran left back Ashley Cole is looking to leave on a free transfer. Amid such events, rumours have surfaced of several new faces being brought to Chelsea and indeed, with the huge sum earned from the sale of Luiz, the Blues can spend freely; without the hindrance of having to comply with Financial Fair Play. But who is Mourinho looking to bring in?

    Diego Costa

Reports claim that Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have already come to a pre-contract agreement for the transfer of the prolific Spanish international. With 27 goals from 35 games Diego Costa has been the shining beacon in Atletico’s glorious season. Should he come to Chelsea, it would although be a panacea for Mourinho’s striker problems yet would be heartbreaking for the Champions League finalists. Indeed, rumours have evinced of Diego Simeone and the rest of Atletico’s board attempting to hijack the deal and retain the Brazilian born striker using financial muscle. It remains to be seen if indeed such an event will transpire.

    Tiago Mendes

Of late, the media seems to have been gripped by a ludicrous epiphany. Word is, that Tiago Mendes, the stalwart Atletico de Madrid midfielder will join Chelsea with the expiry of his contract. The Portugeuse has already played for Chelsea back in 2004 and he even won the Premier league title. Now, it seems he is set for a reunion with Jose Mourinho. However such a move would be against Chelsea’s policy of getting rid of the ‘old guard’ and it makes no sense for the Blues to sign the 33-year-old veteran when they already have experienced players like Frank Lampard and Jon Obi Mikel. Yet perversely, the Daily Mail reports that a deal has been reached.

    Raphael Varane

A cogent transfer for Chelsea FC this summer would be to sign this rising star from Real Madrid. Varane has been tipped to be the man to replace David Luiz. The French player has at times looked inconsistent, yet he has proved his prowess at Real Madrid with skillful displays. Mourinho seems reluctant to introduce members of Chelsea’s youth academy into the Premier League right now. It would indeed be a boost to Chelsea should they manage to sign Varane. However, a transfer of this tenor would not come for a meager transfer fee. Now Chelsea has a pressing question, is Varane really worth it?

    Filipe Luis

It seems that there is an imminent mass exodus from Atletico Madrid and Chelsea seems to be the destination of choice. According to reports by Marca,

Chelsea are willing to shell out 24 million euros to trigger the buy out clause in the Brazilian defender’s contract and bring him to Stamford Bridge. Filipe Luis has blossomed at Atletico and has been a potent threat for the past few seasons. He would no doubt bolster Chelsea’s squad in a crucial area.

    Alberto Moreno

The young spaniard left back, Moreno has caught the attention of a number of big clubs with a successful Europa league winning spell at Sevilla. Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are believed to be in the race to sign the youngster. With the probable move of Luke Shaw to Manchester United, Chelsea must consider other options and Moreno could be a good buy. However, an exorbitant transfer fee and wage demand could heat up the race and

    Ivan Rakitic

The shining star of Sevilla’s accoladed campaign this season has been this young man from Croatia. Rakitic has been the heart and soul of Sevilla’s midfield and it is no surprise that the skilled footballer has triggered a transfer race. Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Chelsea, Manchester City are just a few clubs who are clambering for his signature. His present contract includes a 33 million buy out clause and with Chelsea’s plethora of midfield stars, Rakitic will probably not be on the top of manager Mourinho’s list.

    Mateo Musacchio

Not many would have heard of this Villareal defender, but the 23-year-old Argentine defender has excelled at Villareal this season. He is a worthy alternative for Chelsea’s defense if they fail to land one of their big gun targets. City and Liverpool are also eying this young tenacious defender. A remarkable fact is that the defender will be free this summer and will probably not sign a new contract. It remains to be seen, which of the heavyweights he will lend his services to.
